Gill

Gill and John formed Celtic Confusion in 2006.

Gill has been playing violin since she was 12, having previously been taught piano by her mother who was a professional pianist. She was leader of her first orchestra by the age of 15 and was in the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra whilst at college. One of their guest conductors was Simon Rattle when he was only 23.

It was Riverdance and The Corrs who started her interest in Celtic music and she was fascinated to hear instruments she had never accompanied before such as uilleann pipes, tin whistles, bodhrans and accordions. She says “it was like discovering music all over again”

John has been playing guitar for over 30 years and started his musical trip with the Dorset Classical Guitar Orchestra. He has played with bands in Europe since discovering Irish music in 2004.

He also plays mandolin, banjo, bass guitar and is learning the low whistle. He enjoys all genres of music and states there is not a single style of music he doesn't like or doesn't want to play.

He is responsible for the band's PA and is available to hire as a sound engineer.

Bass Guitar, Tuba and Didgeridoo.

Tony started his musical life in youth marching bands before moving on to playing in various local concert orchestras.

After picking up the bass in later life he joined Clive playing in an active local pub band. Once Clive had secured his “No heavy PA lifting” deal with Johnny he then suggested he knew of a bass player who “was” prepared to lift! The deal was done!
